Winter is around the corner
We are soon in the middle of November and that means the winter is around the corner. Me and Maria live in an apartment, but both her parents have gardens and they need to be prepared for the coming winter months.
Earlier in the week we got an invitation to her father’s house in Nossebro,. He needed help with cleaning the Anestad cottage in which both the fireplace and the cooking stove had been replaced. The new fireplace should also be tested to see how it worked, the garden in Nossebro also needed some pre winter care but the highlight would be birthday celebrations. Yes it is plural in celebrations because Maria, her father and her mother is born on the same day. The thought was that all of Marias family would join on Saturday for this work and celebration weekend.
Sadly me and Maria got a slow start on Saturday and had to make a stop in Alingsås on the way to Nossebro to eat but also so I could buy a present to Maria. So when we arrived at the cottage in Anestad everything was already done and the fire was burning. It was nice to see the craftsmanship that had integrated the new wood burner in a way that made it look old. We just stayed for a short while before we went to Nossebro to prepare the celebrations.
The dinner was excellent as was the birthday cake. Sadly the third birthday child was home sick so it was just Maria and her father that we sang for.
I brought two pictures that I gave as a birthday gift to my father-in-law.
I must say that these photos looks excellent when printed.
The night between Saturday and Sunday was spent sleeping on a sofa as we had Maria’s sick niece sleeping in the same room. So after midnight I took my belongings and headed out into the living room where I slept for the rest of the night. Maria who deputized as stand-in mother had a tougher time and she barely slept an hour during the night. She also had promised both her nieces that they would make scones in the morning and bravely she managed this before getting some needed sleep.
While Maria slept I went out into the garden to see if I could capture some photos. It were the usual suspects around the bird feeder, i.e. Tits and Nuthatches. I also saw a Treecreeper but it went AWOL as soon as I thought of taking a picture of it.
The light was really bad and I had to work with slow shutter speeds to get a decent exposure. Still I think that all of these 3 pictures are nice and that is mainly because of the nice Larch that the birds started to use before going to the bird feeder.
I hope you enjoy my pictures from the weekend.
