A Tuesday after work
One week in Italy have made me heavier so the priority is to get some of the excess away and that was one of the reasons why I took out the cycle for a ride this Tuesday afternoon. We have had really nice weather the last couple of days with temperatures around 25 and almost no clouds in the sky. I know that I have pictures to attend to from the vacation but one can´t miss the opportunity to be out when the weather is this good.
So when I got home I just packed my photo rucksack and headed out to the trail along Säveån. It is really nice to have this opportunity to just take the bike and not the car to come to a green lung in the city.
My intention was primarily to see what have happened since leaving Sweden 9 days ago. I didn´t expect anything out of the ordinary to maybe some interesting.
The ride was slow and I stopped once in a while to lead the bike because one tends to miss too much otherwise even if you ride slowly. There was a constant bird chatter mainly from the Blackbirds that seems to thrive here. I am starting to pick up some of the sounds and I soon found a European Blue Tit that sat nicely on a swaying branch, it was a little windy, that I got some nice pictures of.
The picture is a bit cluttered in the background but it is still a nice photo with the feathers all puffed up while it´s singing. It´s a good portrait I think.
I stopped a couple of more times without any luck so instead I decided to head back home. I had heard more birds than I had seen but still I thought it had been a good ride with at least some good pictures of a White Wagtail and the Blue Tit. I would mainly walk back to the certain to not miss anything of interest and that was a wise decision I must say.
I got one really nice photo of a Marsh Tit with its beak full of larvae, look in the gallery, on the way back to the nest to feed the young ones, a Starling who spread its wings, probably because it was wet from a dip in the water and the Goosander family. I had hoped to see this family as they seem to return to this stretch of Säveån. I took some pictures of them June last year so it was really nice to see them now. I counted to 10 young ones but the picture here just shows some of them riding on the back of mom.
It is not the best picture but still a good one. I now know they are here so I will certainly go out looking for them more times and I also need to see if I can get some photo of the Common Pheasant that I also bumped into.
A good and productive bike ride this Tuesday afternoon.
