Last week at Säveån
Last week meant I had some obligations as Marias sister Elin was getting married to Andrej. The temperature had also dropped and we got some rain and therefore I didn´t spend that much time taking pictures along Säveån. I just made two trips and on the first one I discovered a nesting site for a European Blue Tit. It was nice to see the traffic back and forth with different snacks for the young. I like the Blue Tit looks. It is almost like a small bandit with eye cover and a tough spiky hair cut.
When I woke up at 4:20 on the wedding day and headed out to see if I could get some pictures of the Blue Tit parents in the morning light. The air was really bustling with life and as soon as I had parked the car I saw a Blackcap signing so I stopped there and took some photos of it. I would have liked to be able to use a higher shutter speed so I could have gotten a sharp picture of the bird singing. Instead I had to wait for the bird to stop singing before I pushed the button to take the picture. Still I got a nice picture of the bird when it was preening itself.
The traffic at the nesting site was intense and this time I positioned myself so I would get a different background to make the pictures look a little bit different from earlier in the week. I think I need to be there even earlier to get the morning light on the birds. It is either that or being there in the late afternoon to get the evening light onto the nesting site.
When I was walking back to the car I saw the mornings first dog walker and this brought out hares. There are many hares at this stretch of Säveån and I usually see at least one each time. This time there was two. I managed to capture one just as it was slowing down.
You should really enlarge this picture to see the surprised look of the Hare.
