A picnic along Säveån
Maria has been stressed this week because of the Aikido black belt grade test on Saturday so when I got home on Thursday we decided to have a picnic together. The idea was to head over to Coop here in Gamlestaden to buy some food to have for the picnic.
We bought a garlic bread and two types of ham for us to share. The picnic would be somewhere along Säveån and if I’d listen to Marias ravenous stomach then it would have been on the parking lot outside of Coop. It isn´t that far to walk to Säveån so 15 minutes later we sat by the water eating. I watched the water passing by and discovered a log that seemed to be moving in the wrong direction. I know that there are Beaver in Säveån but I am not 100% certain that it was one this time even if I suspect it because of how it disappeared in the water.
After the picnic we took a lazy stroll along Säveån to see if we could find anything interesting. It wasn´t much activity but still we found a Chaffinch with an attitude. It sat in the shade so I really had to try to get a stable platform so I could lower the shutter speed to get a good ISO reading. I think I managed this nicely even if the sharpness could have been slightly better.
A bit further along the Säveån we found a Goosander with 2 chicks. I don´t know if this was the same one I saw on Tuesday but if that was the case then where were the rest of the chicks? I hope this was another bird and I have decided to head out more times to see if I can find them again.
The evening ended with a pair of Eurasian Oystercatcher flying over our heads. I have no idea what they are doing this far from their usual hunting grounds. I thought they just ate mollusks and stayed along the shoreline.
A nice ending to a lovely Thursday stroll.
