A visit to Brudarebacken
A headed out to Brudarebacken this Saturday morning. Brudarebacken isn´t a place that I normally visit but yesterday there came reports about a Northern Hawk Owl there and I had to try my luck and see if it still was there.
The morning was chilly but we had sun. This is the first time I have seen the sun in the morning for a long time because we have had a horrendous autumn with clouds and lots of rain. I didn´t want to waste the opportunity to get out and Maria was working so she had nothing to complain about.
Brudarebacken is situated just a few minutes’ drive from home which is nice. It is also one of the higher points in Gothenburg and birdwatchers tend to go here to get a good view of the skies above Gothenburg. I have never gone there before with photography in mind so this was the first time.
When I arrived I could see many parked cars so I wasn´t the only one there with the Owl in mind. I headed up for the slope and could see many smaller birds in the skies. Further up I meet a guy on the way down and he told me that they hadn´t seen any Owl so my hunch seemed to be correct. So I decided to try to get some good photos of the smaller birds instead of using my time searching for the Owl.
I got some good photos and could add one new species to my list, the Brambling. It is always fun when this happen. I had hopes for the Owl but got a Brambling instead.
The photo isn´t spectacular and I have photos that would have been better if it wasn´t for the twig that you can see in this picture. It ruined most of the pictures when I looked at them at home.
This is the picture I like the most.
I have tried to nail a flying Magpie many times but now I got it.
A good first run at Brudarebacken I must say.
