A morning with fog in mind
I have seen the fog over Göta Älv and the surrounding fields every morning during the week when I have been driving to work so today I wanted to explore and see what the fog could bring.
I got off to a late start, but I soon discovered it wasn’t too late as the fog still lay heavy over the fields along Göta Älv, the main waterway through Gothenburg. The fog felt almost too thick at some places so I had to choose the places well to be able to get the right feeling in the photos.
My stop here produced two different types of images. They are more or less the same, but one is taken at a very low angle with the foreground in focus while the second is a try to do something similar to a HDR picture.
The feeling in the first picture is more to my liking, but the second is a technically a better picture. I would have liked to have a more clear tree line to the left in the second picture.
I continued the trip and headed over to Nordre Älv, a watercourse between the coast and Göta Älv. The fog here was even thicker and you couldn’t see many meters at time so I had to drive slowly.
The next three pictures in the gallery is from the stop along Nordre Älv and if I have to choose one picture, then I would take this.
It is the dreamlike feeling that I like in this picture and I think it would be a really boring picture without the fog. You also have things going on in the foreground where you actually can discern the colors of the grass.
Now I felt I had to do something else. That meant I drove towards the coast where I knew the fog would disperse. There I made two stops and I got lucky on the second.
The camera was actually still inside the car when I stood reading a board, a information board about the Nature Reserve, when the Eurasian Wren made an appearance.
It landed on a pole 30 meters from me so I walked the five meters back to the car, grabbed the camera and took four safety shots. I knew I had to get closer to get a good result and as soon as the Wren went down into the undergrowth I sneaked forward.
To my surprise it stayed in the undergrowth and I stopped 10 meters from the pole as I didn’t want to push my luck. Soon it appeared and I readied myself so I could take a few shots at this little fella. Now luck really struck as it positioned itself on top of the pole and there it stayed for more than a minute before it disappeared into the undergrowth again.
It is a nice looking bird with a great posture. It made a small show for me on top of the pole where it switched from side to side and sometimes it even flattened itself on the pole. I haven’t watched this species this close before and it was a really nice meeting.
All in all it was a productive morning and hopefully tomorrow will be the same.
