The Camera Natura Photo Fair in Västerås
I have had a long day today due to a Photo Fair in Västerås. It started before 5 in the morning and I arrived back home after 22. It was a first for me as I attended this Photo Fair in Västerås arranged by the respected Photo magazine Camera Natura.
I went there to promote my photo workshop this October in Botswana together with my partner. This was the second Photo Fair in a couple of months and I have been invited to another Photo Fair in Stockholm in 1 months’ time. I really need to get my business card for that Fair and I also need to do some canvas that I can bring there to show what Botswana can offer for a Photographer.
The Fair wasn´t a big one and I soon realized why everyone was there. They had seminars with many good photographers showing their work and speaking about photography. That meant that the exhibitors area went quite for almost an hour each time they had these seminars. Not an ideal thing to happen if you are there to promote anything but still I think the Fair was productive as I spoke too many interested persons as this truly where a Nature Photo Fair and nothing else.
I think we will succeed in getting a first group of 8 persons to Botswana this season and I hope that will open the eyes for many more to come to this beautiful destination. It isn´t a destination that has been promoted on television like East Africa but nowadays you can see more and more shows from the Okavango Delta and the areas nearby. The trip for October will be to 2 interesting areas and that is Savuti and Khwai. They offer complete different habitats and that is something that I like. We will also stay in the areas for 3 or 4 days and not move camp more than once so you really get the possibility to get a good feeling for what you can do there and really work with improving your skill. It´s sad to see how many other tour operators try to show the complete country in 7 days meaning you have to spend so much time moving from area to area. This is really an important matter to me because you are there on a workshop and that means you should be there to hone your skills, nothing else.
