A trip along Nossan a Saturday evening

Saturday meant a first longer trip on Nossan with “Pumpan”, the orange rubber boat that we fixed two weeks ago. So this was actually a field test of some sort to see how well we had fixed the boat, but also to test it with the motor.

I have thought about buying a rubber boat for some time to use as a mobile photography platform. I like to shoot from the water as you most often can get really close to the subjects without disturbing them as one might do when you approach from land. Still I haven´t bought any so this test was a nice way to get a feeling for the concept I have had.

We launched into Nossan in the central of Nossebro travelling upstream towards the saw mill in Bredöl where we had to turn back because of the rapids there. That meant a trip for almost 7km on Nossan in each direction. Bertil steered during the trip and I and Maria took turns as passenger. It took us a little over two hours, back and forth, with stops to both pump air into the pontoons and filling up the motor with gasoline.

I didn´t bring my camera for the ride on Nossan so I had to use the mobile to take photos, but also to record this video.

The trip was relaxing, but I had an issue fitting myself into the boat. If I buy a boat it must be bigger than “Pumpan” as “Pumpan” just fit two adults. I probably need a boat for four adults so I can move around freely in the boat when I take photos.

Unfortunately we discovered that “Pumpan” started to leak considerable during the trip back so we certainly have more holes to fix.
