The World Open. What was I thinking?
I saw this ad on Facebook for a photo competition called World Open of Photography, or for short The Open. The price sum was a hefty sum but it wasn´t the only reason why I entered 5 pictures in the competition.
Of course I have a chance of winning but the chance is slim even if it exists. I have gone thru and looked at some of the photos and there are many high class photos by photographers that do this for living. I just hope that one of my photos might be chosen among the 100 that go thru from the judges’ side. There will be 200 photos in the final but 100 will be chosen from Likes on the competition page and I can´t blame anyone for not creating an account to vote for my picture.
The main reason for me competing is that this actually is a great forum for showing my pictures. The cost of $35 is a in a way pure marketing. I make my work more accessible and hopefully it might bring some traffic to my site. So I decided to choose 5 different types of pictures. I could have made it easy and just entered 5 photos of European Bee-eaters but as I said I wanted to show something more.
They are all pictures of nature, 3 from Sweden and 2 from Hungary. I didn´t choose any from Africa because I think the competition have a good amount of pictures from that continent and I don´t want to be compared to those. It’s better to show something a little bit unique, at least I think so.
You can all go to the site and watch the pictures I have chosen by using this link: To my competition page
If you have a Facebook or a Google+ account then you´ll be able to create an account really easy. Just follow this link and use the appropriate link on the competition page.
It would make me really happy if you took the time and did it for me.
And if you ask then its this photo that I hope for the most.
