Week 2 of Africa Geographic cover shot competition
The cover competition for week 2 is on and I have sent 3 pictures this time. They are all photo taken from the last days in Botswana last October and I am more than please with them but I don´t feel these 3 are up for the job. Still they are good enough to end up inside the paper and therefore I sent them in.
The first photo is of a Lioness. We found her and her pride of 11 lions just a couple of hundred meters from where we camped in Chobe National Park. We were so lucky that we stayed with the pride for over an hour before the next vehicle appeared. As soon as that vehicle appeared the jungle drum sounded and soon more vehicles from the same safari company came there so we left. It was a magnificent time we spent with the pride and we had them more or less around the vehicle all the time.

The second photo is of a Water Buffalo and the photo is taken sitting in a boat on the Chobe River. The light was really hard but the picture turned out good. The Buffalo is standing on an island in the middle of the river together with a couple of hundred of his friends. It is chewing on grass and sizing us up. This is an animal I wouldn´t like to meet on foot.
The last picture is taken on the last morning drive we did. It is a quit morning until we stumble upon a herd of Elephants. We stopped and watched them for some time and watched them eating while moving further from the river. Then this Elephant Bull appeared and as you can see he has taken a bath and is beginning to dry up. He looked at our vehicle to see that we didn´t stay in his way and passed just in front of the vehicle.

As I hope you see they are all good photos and worth there space inside a magazine. They are maybe not as good as the Bee-eater picture but still they are worth to be in a magazine.
