I have sold the right of use for my Blue Wildebeest picture
Blue Wildebeest. Well this wasn’t exactly the first picture that I thought would be published on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
Last time someone contacted me regarding a right of use from the USA they asked for a European Hare picture so I really shouldn´t have been surprised. It is just that neither the European Hare or the Blue Wildebeest is what I would call photogenic.
Surprised yes, but I am really happy that my picture will be used to market the upcoming event “Heart of Africa” at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. I will follow the marketing closely just to see how they use the picture as it a professional marketing bureau that has bought the right of use.
Savuti was a huge contrast to the other areas we had been to like Moremi Game Reserve. I really liked this part of Botswana even if it was challenging with the high temperatures. The sightings here was great and it felt like a predator heaven. It was also fun to see the birdlife now that the Savuti marshes once more was filled with water. It had actually been dry for almost 20 years before the Savuti channel started to flow again in 2010.
Columbus Zoo reached out to me
The Blue Wildebeest picture is 8 x 10″ which isn´t a traditional size here in Europe. I like the picture, but I haven´t used it cropped like this. You will find a close-up in my photo album from Savuti and it is exactly the same picture.
The picture was taken on our first evening in Savuti. The day had been long and hot during the trip from Khwai Community Area to Savuti. I am not 100% sure, but the temperatures must have been soaring way over 40°C when we travelled thorough the Mababe depression.
What puzzled me where that we just found a single Blue Wildebeest. I find this odd, but I suppose it must have been a lone bull. The Blue Wildebeest thrives in numbers. That is at least what I think so this was odd to me. I also think it must have been the same lone animal that we found the last morning in Savuti.
I really liked Botswana and I am planning on going back early next year. The plan is to visit the Kalahari desert to see those parts before we travel to Moremi Game Reserve.
I call this trip Botswana Desert & Delta and if you are interested in participating in this Photo Expedition, then contact me directly thorough the “contact form” or just “sign up” so you receive news when I update the page.
