Flowers in the rain
We have had a week of heavy rains here in Gothenburg.
Of course its common because we live by the sea but I can´t remember this type of rain from the days when I grew up. The norm nowadays seems to be heavy and intensive showers where the water just seems to be pouring from the sky as if I had poured a bucket of water over someone’s head. This is not raining it’s something else and when we get days with this type of rain then it’s no fun.
This Thursday morning was particularly interesting as we had a hailstorm, thunder & lightning together with the intensive showers. Its freaking me out and it keeps you inside as you don´t want to go out in these conditions.
I am not sure if the weather keeps the wildlife away but the life seems to have disappeared at a rapid pace in the Gothenburg area. I suspect that many migratory birds just fly past and don´t make any stops when the weather is like this. I have heard of huge flocks of Chaffinches etc just a hours´ drive from here but they doesn´t seem to come to Gothenburg this year. I can´t fault them for no one want to stay in this type of weather.
During Thursday afternoon I took some pictures of flowers we have on the balcony. Was hoping that the hailstorm would have been longer than just 15 seconds because I didn´t get the camera out so I had to do with the second best, water drops.
Water drops are really nice to have when you take photos of flowers. I have heard that it is a norm among many macro photographers that they spray water on the subject they are taking pictures of to get a little bit more interesting picture. I think that is cleaver and if I had a macro lens I would have done the same. Water brings life to pictures as they bring life in general.
The first photo is taken with my tele lens and this one is with the 24-70mm. They both work decent but I want a proper macro lens at times. The small details are many times much more fascinating that you think and don´t have to travel to have tons of things to take photos of.
Now I hope that the weekend will bring some clear skies for a change but this morning has been as grey as the rest of the week.
