Photographing Terns in Hungary
One of my photo highlights this year were when I photographed the Terns at Lake Tisza in Hungary. I went to Hungary with other goals in mind like Hoopoe, European Roller and European Bee-eater so this was a great bonus to my trip. I was fortunate to use the service of Zoltán Pabar and his company Hungarobirds. He is a keen birder but also a photographer with a small and intimate company, which is to my liking.
None of the days where pre planned so I had no knowledge that we were going to Lake Tisza. The trip out on the lake was not just a great photo opportunity but also a way to relax. I sat in the bow of the boat with a clear view of the surroundings which was great. I started the trip using my monopod but soon I discarded that idea as I wanted to be more flexible with the setup.
We visited the Whiskered Tern colony on two occasions and both gave good pictures. The first with some great flight shots and the second with interaction between the Terns. I have already posted 5 Tern pictures from this trip and you can find them here.
These new pictures are more or less different to those that I previously have posted.
I particularly like this picture of an attentive Whiskered Tern probably searching for fish. I like how it is coming straight at me and that you have a different background with the tree line, which also brings color to the picture. You also have the glint in the eye and I find the crossed feet to be a nice element in the picture.
Hope you all enjoy the new additions to my Tern portfolio.
