The Reed Bunting at Säveån
Last time I discovered a Reed Bunting while I trekked at Säveån and I wanted to see if my suspicions were correct about this sighting. I felt that there must be a nest somewhere in the Reed and now there should be some traffic back and forth to the nest because the eggs should have hatched.
Therefore I took my camera gear and headed out to see if I could see find the Reed bunting again.
The sun was up and the wind wasn´t that bad. It still blew some so the reed would probably move with the wind but I didn´t expect it to be of any trouble for me.
When I arrived there I started to walk to see if the nest of the Blue Tit still was in use but I couldn´t see anything happening there. So the small one must have fled the nest and I would expect the adult birds have started to incubate a second time. I hope to see some action here in the next couple of weeks but they might have moved nest.
I could see different Warblers doing there business so I expect there are a lot of young birds in the area now. Once I came to the Reed Bunting site I could see the bird. It was coming down to where I thought the nest were so my suspicion seemed to be correct. I stayed with here taking photos of both the female and male while they were coming back to feed the chicks.
I also heard the song from a Reed Warbler and I tried to lure it out into the open but as soon as it saw me it went back into the reed. Still I got one or two okay photos of it even if there is some reed in the way.
It was nice to be out again now that the weather permitted it. I will probably invest in a hide soon and this site might bring some nice photo of both the Eurasian Reed Warbler and the Reed Bunting.
