Sunny for a change
Sunny weather isn’t something we have been blessed with this year. Therefore, it was a great feeling when the sun made an appearance and actually stayed over the weekend.
We went to Nossebro on Friday to stay at Marias father house over the weekend. My plan was to enjoy the sunny weather and hopefully start the Black grouse season on Saturday morning.
Sadly the Black grouses didn’t play along even if they were on site. That meant my early morning wasn’t fruitful at all. I could hear them, but they did not appear in front of the hide. I actually that they only made a short visit, like 20 minutes.
The morning was still nice due to the sunny weather. I did a quick survey of the lek site and started to plan for next trip there, hopefully next weekend. In the afternoon we made a short trip to a place with a good amount of Common hepatica. Last year I tried to find spots with Common Hepatica closer to home, but if I had known about this place then I surely would have stopped by last year.
It is still a little yearly, but we did find the blue flower and I expect them to be plentiful soon. I will surely go there more times in the coming weeks when we visit Nossebro.
I made a revisit to the Common hepatica the next morning with hope of backlit photos. Sadly those pictures didn’t materialize even if the sun came thorough from time to time.
A visit to Hunneberg and the surrounding areas was also made on Sunday. I wanted to see the status of the place where I found the Smew last year, but also explore a small waterfall and see what type of pictures that place could produce. Both these stops was made in broad daylight which isn’t optimal even if you can take good pictures that time of day. It is harder, but doable if you just know the do’s and don’ts.
All in all I had a fairly productive and sunny weekend that bring hope of spring and warmer weather.
