Arriving in Hungary
Now I am back in Hungary for a short Eagle workshop. This is the first time this year that I travel to Hungary, but I know that I also will go here for work once more this year.
The flights were as uneventful as they should be and now I am just waiting for the host to arrive. I am also waiting for my fellow countryman Arne Bivrin, whom is tagging along on this trip. We will spend the next 5 days here in Hungary with the aim to get good photos of both the White-tailed Eagle and the Imperial Eagle, which I saw during the summer tour I did in June. We have White-tailed Eagles at home so the important goal is the Imperial Eagle for me.
I checked the forecast before leaving home and the weather doesn´t seem to be on my side, but things might change for better I hope. They say that we´ll have both rain and snow and that the temperatures will be around zero just like at home. I had hope for much colder temperatures, but that wasn´t to be. Colder climate would have meant more birds on the feeding site as they would have struggled to get food elsewhere.
The other bird on my wish list here in Hungary is the Common Kingfisher. I took some okay photos of it here in the summer, but I really need to work on getting better images. The Kingfisher is a really spectacular bird and one I really like. Sadly Zoltán told me that the birds this year hasn´t been as cooperative as previous years, but still they are here and that means I might get my desired photo. I even brought my bag hide so I might creep closer without startling the bird.
I think I´ll have some interesting days here in Hungary and I am sure that I´ll get a couple of good photos but we´ll have to wait and see whom the models will be.
