Update on the African Geographic cover competition
I am more than happy to see my Bee-eater picture go thru to the next stage of the Africa Geographic cover competition. I know that it also got the most “likes” on Facebook and that feels good but it was also chosen as one of the Judges Top 5 and that is great news.
What does it mean? Actually I didn´t have any idea before I contacted Cindy at Africa Geographic who took the time and explained it to me.
This is the setup for the competition.
The competition runs for 4 weeks and each week 10 pictures in total will be chosen to go thru to the next stage. 5 are chosen because the people like them on Facebook and 5 are chosen by the judges like mine Bee-eater photo. Now there is a big difference here even if you can end up in the magazine and the difference is this. You can only be chosen for the cover if you end up among the photos chosen by the judges. That is great news to me because I really would like to end up on the cover.
From these 40 pictures 20 will be presented in the magazine, 10 from each category, and 1 will be on the front cover and that is the one that the Judges feel deserve to be there.
If I get all mathematical I´ll now have an 11/20 chance to end up in the magazine either on the front cover or inside it. I have high hope and I honestly think I will have a good chance of making the top spot with my Bee-eater picture. It is that good and it deserves a place in the shelves.
I have sent in 3 new pictures this week and I will present them here shortly. They are all good and would fit a front cover but this is the picture I hope will make it.
So keep your fingers crossed. I´ll probably need it…
