Preparing for the Golden Eagle workshop in Kalvträsk
I am now sitting here in Kalvträsk preparing for the workshop that will start tomorrow. The travel went really smooth and we did actually land 15 minutes before schedule in Skellefteå.
Conny Lundström meet me at the airport and drove me to the house here in Kalvträsk. He’ll be my “guide” for the next three days with the aim to take some nice picture of the Golden Eagle that he has been studying and photographing for almost 20 years.
He has a log cabin that he rents to groups of photographer during the Eagle season. The cabin can take up to 4-6 persons but I´ll have the cabin all for me and that is a luxury that I can stand. We’ll start early tomorrow with the aim to be inside the hide/cabin an hour before the sunrise. The goal is to give the main actor, the Golden Eagle, a good time to settle before it appears on stage. They are easily disturbed so you need to be inside that early to maximize the chance for them to appear. I have hope of hopefully coming home with a couple of good photos but it will be a test this time around and I need to have luck on my side. I am not certain to be successful this time so I´ll have to wait and see and I certainly have to be patient.
Tomorrow seems to bring overcast but both Tuesday and Wednesday seems to bring clear skies and that is great news. I think it’s nice to have a though start and different light give different opportunities. Sadly there seems be no snow the coming days but we’ll have to wait and see.
I have charged all off my batteries and cleaned the lenses so I’ll just have to setup the gear when I get there tomorrow. I’ll get the possibility to photo in 2 directions from the cabin with different background. That is nice so you can produce different kind of photos.
Soon I am off to bed because the alarm clock is set at 5:00 tomorrow.
