A stupidly hot day at Borås Zoo
Borås Zoo that was my stop on the way home from Nossebro last weekend. I left Maria at her fathers’ house early as she was going to get picked up by her mother later. I wanted to be at Borås Zoo when they opened as I know the day was going to be hot and to walk around there with my backpack and camera would be sweaty even on a cloudy day.
I didn´t really have a plan more than I wanted to check out the new arrivals, the Red Panda and the Spotted Hyena. The other idea was that I should take the tour clockwise and not counter clockwise as I usually go when I visit Borås Zoo.
So what did the day bring?
Well I have to admit that the day was fruitful even if the conditions were awful. There were no clouds in the sky so the light was harsh making it really hard to get a decent exposure. Temperatures were almost 30 degrees when I left Borås Zoo with a soaking wet shirt.
I wanted to make this an album, but I am not pleased with all of the pictures. Many of the pictures have blown out highlights due to the hard light, but also from the sun reflections from the water.
Still I got many good pictures and it was a real pleasure to see the Brown Bear family in the water. They had four cubs and I almost passed them when I walked by as I only saw the male Brown Bear at first. Luckily I spotted the female with the cubs and got to see and hear how the Bears interact with each other. It was great to see how the female charged the male as soon as one of the cubs complained of him being to near.
I also got to see both new arrivals and for the first time I actually saw a Wolverine there. It is always a pleasure to see our relatives the monkeys and this time I got there at feeding time.
I think this day has highlighted the conclusion that I am much more adapt taking pictures under bad conditions than during good conditions. I need to work more in the middle of the day to really get a better grip on that kind of situation. We have many hours of really good light here in Sweden, but I must commit myself to work more than at sunrise and sunset
Feel free to look through the gallery from my visit at Borås Zoo. I hope you will find some picture there that you like.
