A new version of an “old” picture
I can´t say that I have been inspired at all the last month and that have meant fewer posts and that I haven´t gone thru all the picture from Hungary or from Öland. My mind has been on focused on another subject that I hope I will be able to write about in the coming weeks.
Last night I decided to just look thru some pictures from Hungary. I didn´t have anything particularly on my mind just that I wanted to start the work and maybe I would find something worth presenting on the blog.
The process is painfully slow because I have a computer that is so slow when I work with the pictures in Photoshop. The reason is simple. My computer is too old and it can´t handle the size of the pictures now that I photo with the Nikon D800. I really need to upgrade the computer and that wasn´t something I had planned for when I bought the new camera.
Still I started to look at the pictures to begin the work. I want just to keep the good pictures to keep the disc as clean as possible. I started with the first day and when I visited the Bee-eater site. The quality of many of the photos isn´t good so I started to throw many into the trash can before I came upon this picture.
I have used this picture before but now I looked at it again and started to question the way I had cropped the picture. In the original picture there are 3 Bee-eaters and the last one is out of focus but still I choose to keep that bird in the first version of the picture. Now I didn´t understand why so I started to crop it differently. I found the 1:1 crop to be what the picture needed.
I really like this version and I can´t find many faults with the picture. The only thing I would have liked to alter is the aperture that could have been f/5.6 instead of f/5.0 that I had now because I would have liked more sharpness on the tail of the landing bird.
I hope you enjoy this new version of the picture. I have presented it on 2 photo communities and the response has been good at both of them and that makes me thrilled. I hope I can keep that feeling for some time.
Still there is a lesson to be learned and one that I do many times. I go back to pictures and look at them again. Why you ask? Because you learn so much from working with pictures over time. What you saw in the picture the first time might not be the idle version.
You can find the picture at these communities and if you want I have put it up for sale on 500px and you can also find it at Fotosidan a Swedish photo community.
I hope you all like this new version of the picture.
